This month's interview is with Academy Group 11 member Andy Foote who runs his own business selling property 'off plan' mostly in Cyprus. Andy says, To be honest, I was very sceptical about (Academy membership). I imagined that these people were losers sitting around the table talking about things rather than getting on and doing them. Nevertheless, I took time out to visit one of the sessions. I thought that I could spend a day with the group and get business as a result. At that first meeting, I realised how wrong I'd been. The individuals around the table were actually high-quality business people running great businesses, many of them already successful and wealthy, and I began to see what the group could do. What really changed my mind was the afternoon session of the '
board you could never afford®' which is still, in my mind, the best thing about The Academy."
This month's interview is with Nicola Winn who has been a member of The Academy for Chief Executives since 2008. She says, "As internally-focused phase within my business was coming to an end, I felt it was the right time to look beyond where the business currently was and explore my future and the future for The Bridge Group. A client introduced me to The Academy for Chief Executives as an organisation that might be beneficial to me in doing that."

Rocket Medical for most of his working life.Les talks about the role that The Academy for Chief Executives has played in helping him to progress his career and about the benefits of being part of a group where members share the issues and challenges their businesses face.
This month's interview is with Carey Trevill, member of Surrey-based Academy Group 14 and founder of 3sixteen, an independent Integrated Marketing Agency.
Carey talks about the challenges of starting her own business, stepping into the role of 'Leader' and how membership of The Academy for Chief Executives is helping as her business continues to grow.
According to The Times on 29th August
1, "The slump in Britain's economy was less severe between April and June than initially estimated, official figures showed, raising hopes than the recession could be over. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) fell by 0.7 per cent between April and June, less than the first estimates of a 0.8 per cent drop. The annual decline in GDP was revised up from 5.6 per cent to 5.5 per cent in the second quarter, but this still marked the biggest contraction in the economy since records began in 1955."
For many years it has been my sincere belief that learning alongside like-minded peers, sharing the issues and challenges that all leaders face, is the most powerful form of development. This development not only broadens the understanding and skills of the individual, but also has a direct impact upon the individual's business and upon the people that he or she interacts with both personally and professionally. At a time when the skill and vision of the leader has never been more important I've been thinking about the challenge of how best to communicate the benefits of experiential learning.
