Howard Leigh is Managing Director of Cavendish Corporate Finance, which he set up in May 1988.

Cavendish specialises in selling businesses. Clients include private companies, financial institutions and fully listed public companies. A typical transaction falls broadly within the £10 million to £150 million value range.

Cavendish is unique in that it has only ever acted for vendors of businesses and as a result has built up an unrivalled specialist expertise in managing the company sale process. In addition, Cavendish has never faced the potential conflicts of interest experienced by most other firms, who advise both purchasers and vendors.

Cavendish is regularly referred work by leading investment bankers, private equity houses, accountants and lawyers, who recognise the level of Cavendish's specialist expertise in the sale process and its commitment to meeting client expectations.

Since its formation in 1988 Cavendish has successfully completed some 300 company sales. Howard is a frequent lecturer, author and broadcaster on mergers and acquisitions and has written the "Good Practice Guideline: Selling a Business", published by the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Until recently, Howard was the Chairman of the Faculty of Corporate Finance of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, which represents some 5,000 corporate financiers. He is also an alternate to the President of the Institute serving on the Takeover Panel.
