Jeremy Thorn's passion is in developing organisations and their people. (Look at all the articles he has written for the Academy, and the range of topics he speaks on!)
In pursuing this life-long passion, he claims to have worked for more organisations than most in his career, aching to know more, learn more and - why not? - do more!
His enthusiasm has always been to foster enquiry, garner wider experience, encourage deeper listening, prize open-eyed observation, acquire a profound understanding of others with integrity, to learn from others however culturally different, and to be prepared to challenge positively - not just for himself or his colleagues, nor even solely in the pursuit of personal growth, but through this, to support organisational excellence for employers, customers and stakeholders.
In pursuing these goals, and in becoming a prolific author of several prize-winning books and an international speaker on many challenging business topics of immediate relevance to senior managers and leaders, he has run both very small organisations and large international corporations in his own right. He has been the Managing Director of an international engineering company with 56 companies in 26 countries and then the founding Director, MD and then Chairman of his own small but successful business, which he recently sold to his colleagues. He is also the past or present Non-Executive Director or Chairman of several successful smaller businesses and has helped make many of their shareholders become multi-millionaires.
In all of this, one of his favourite maxims has been: "Just think how we could have done even better - if only we had known beforehand what we didn't know!"
Jeremy's core aim as a professional speaker is not just to entertain and even challenge, nor just to share acquired wisdom and experience, but to encourage all of us to find out what we possibly didn't know, and to learn what others might...
