Trevor has recently joined the Academy as Chairman of Group 31 centred in Stockport and the area to the East of Manchester. He brings over 25 years experience in the downstream oil industry in a variety of companies supplying products and services to the cream of UK engineering. These were predominantly from within the automotive, aerospace, primary metals and offshore sectors.
Having witnessed the benefits the Academy offered as a member Trevor found the Academy values of compassion, courage, creativity, curiosity and integrity closely matched his own. He is now relishing the opportunity to establish this new group and looking forward to continuing his own learning and development as part of the group.
Whilst becoming a generalist over recent years Trevor has a strong technical background onto which he has added sales and marketing skills. Strengths he will bring to his group members include good leadership along with excellent analytical and problem solving skills. He has also developed good listening and communication skills.
Trevor's last role as M.D. involved a successful re-structure of the company, to kick start growth in a declining market, resulting in significant growth in sales and profit. Leading from the front he was involved in all areas of the company to ensure that the new strategies were implemented. The Company finances were also significantly improved as he led and negotiated a sale and leaseback of the site.
Earlier achievements at Board level were as European Technical Director where the challenge was to integrate over 50 industrial chemists based in laboratories on 5 European sites. He improved communications and teamwork resulting in successful new products in the field of sustainable technology based upon environmentally friendly raw materials. Also, as Operations Director, Trevor guided the design, build and successful re-location of the Head Office to a state of the art European Technical Centre including Corporate Headquarters and production facilities.
Sales and marketing have played a major part in Trevor's career which, with a customer base within the UK manufacturing sector, has always been challenging. His most significant achievement was the introduction of a range of services to counter the reducing sales volumes. This has evolved over the years into a bespoke form of facilities management.
Learning has always been a constant in Trevor's life, as his career progressed he has added a number of vocational qualifications to his degree in Chemistry. He found the IOD course in Company Direction was very useful as it presented the best of current thinking in most facets of business.
