Joanna Jesson jointly chairs Directors Forum 9, Academy Group 42 and newly launched Directors Forum 42 with Phil Jesson. She also co-runs management consultancy Business Pulse, which specialises in coaching, leadership, teambuilding and culture change. She is an excellent coach and facilitator and has had extensive training in NLP, Voice Dialogue and other coaching techniques. She is well qualified to help people increase their confidence, self-esteem and commitment to achieve fulfilment and life goals.
Joanna's early career was spent at Marks and Spencer in a number of retail management roles. Still only 24, she was made responsible for a team of 700 people. She project-managed M&S' introduction of instant credit and later went on to become head of management training and development, where she introduced the concept of coaching and mentoring at a time where it was described as "very cutting edge".
Wanting more variety in her career, Joanna joined Business Link in Hertfordshire where she managed an annual programme of 1000 events, and ran a team of personal business advisers operating in many different market sectors. It is a move that pays dividends today in her role as an Academy chairman working with a dozen members "from different worlds".
With the challenges of the future in mind, Joanna believes that her role as an Academy chairman is to help members keep up in a rapidly changing world, convert best practice into common practice, and to keep asking the questions that will help deliver both personal happiness and business success
Joanna helps members manage the "ups and downs" of business life. The "ups" include creating increases in profitability, boardroom clarity and focus and customer retention; the "downs" include reducing costs, staff turnover and inefficiency.
She enables members to translate the monthly Academy sessions into quantifiable value by concentrating on the actions that they, and others within their organisation, need to take. She believes that the most important part of an Academy day is the day after!
